Insanity Max:30 Progress Day 18

This program is no joke.  I have done T25 and Insanity, but this really does take you to a whole new level.  And I love it!

However, it is not easy.  These workouts are HARD, and it takes extra motivation to not only complete the workout but to really give it my ALL every time.  Isn't that what I should have been doing all along anyway? Yay, but this program is designed to track your time and actually see your progression. That is KEY for my motivation.  Without keeping track of my time, I know I would have given up too early during some of these workouts. I am competitive, but this program forces me to compete with myself everyday. It is so emotionally satisfying to know that I gave each workout my absolute best!

To motivate myself, before each workout I check my calendar that is provided with the program (thanks Beachbody!).  I look at which workout I am doing that day, and what my Max Out time was the last time I did that particular workout.  Then I challenge myself to go at least 2 minutes longer than I did the last time.  It is so empowering! I feel like I can conquer the world after I complete my workout...well maybe after the soreness fades. Haha!

Thankfully there are lots of way to measure your progress during a workout program because the scale has NOT moved at all! 18 days in and my weight is the same. HOWEVER, I feel so much better, healthier, stronger, and there are lots of inches lost. Waist, hips, arms and thighs all lost inches. I didn't measure my calves at the beginning, but I wish I had because my super cute, tall boots fit much easier (which anyone else with large calves will understand how AMAZING that is!).

This program is all about MENTAL strength.  Pushing yourself in every workout, sticking to the nutrition guide, and I am definitely up to the challenge. Stay tuned because I plan to have amazing results by Day 60! ;)

Being Healthy is About What You GAIN!

Saturday night I was so excited I could barely sleep!

Too much adrenaline, excitement and inspiration after the Super Saturday Event in Tampa!

In the wee hours of the night when I was laying awake in bed, I couldn't stop thinking about the heart of this company.

Yes this company sells fitness programs and nutritional shakes, but there is a much BIGGER message they are trying to send: YOU can do it!

You can be healthy!
You can be in control of your life!
You can be more confident!
You can help others!
You can build your mind and self esteem!

There were 2 women that spoke about their healthy journey's at Super Saturday. The one that stuck out in my mind was not the woman that lost 100 pounds.  Although her journey is amazing and inspriational! Losing 100 pounds is an outstanding accomplishment and I cried tears of joy for her as she shared her story.  The woman that stuck out in my mind, that I couldn't stop thinking about, was the one who lost only 15 pounds.  Her story was not about loss, but about what she gained.  She wasn't on a huge trek to lose a ton of weight. She was broken.  She had tragedy in her life and it consumed her and controlled her.  She felt like she was not living life, but that life was just happening to her. She was searching for something:

Something to hold on to.
Something to help her regain her footing.
Something she could control.
Something to help her find the woman she was before the tragedy consumed her.

She had 2 little kids that needed her to figure it out and stop the downward spiral.  She knew that when she looked in the mirror she didn't like the person she had become.  She didn't have a ton of weight to lose, but she knew she needed to be healthier.  Drinking and stress eating were big pieces of her downward spiral.  She was  headed down a path of destruction and she wanted to turn back.

She saw her opportunity to gain some form of control in her life through Beachbody.  She started with a Challenge Group, lost some weight and more importantly she gained glimpses of the woman she once was.  She found a piece of the woman she used to be.  She found that she is in control of her eating and fitness.  She found something to hold on to when it felt like the rest of life was out of her grasp.  The best part is that she found she wasn't alone.  The support of a coach and Challenge Group goes far beyond fitness.  It's about helping, being there, encouragement and knowing that you ALWAYS have someone in your corner.

That is what Beachbody is all about.  Lots of companies sell fitness programs, but no one else offers the support to help you through it. That is the missing piece for so many people, including me! I never believed I could do it. Without support from my coach and Challenge Group I NEVER would have finished a program and discovered my own potential!

I love that the heart of Beachbody is not exercise (although it's important), it's about people.

Truly helping people.

Funny story about this little blue chair...

About 8 months ago, I was at the dealership getting an oil change for my van (LOVE my minivan, I don’t care what people say…Minivans rock...I digress). My kids and I were sitting in the children's part of the waiting area. We were watching cartons and coloring.  They said it would take about an hour.  No big deal.  I’m a mom, I know how to pack a diaper bag full of entertainment and snacks to try to hold off the toddler melt downs for at least an hour.

After about 45 minutes, I was starting to lose them.  The kids were getting bored.  They wanted to go.  I was doing my best to keep up the entertainment, but I was definitely running out of ideas and staring at the clock.

"Ms. Gossett, you're van is ready." Yes! It was starting to get hairy trying to entertain these kiddos. In my excitement I stood up quickly out of one of these blue chairs...only the chair came with me. I had a terribly embarrassing moment of prying the chair off of my tush and putting it back on the floor.

I. was. MORTIFIED!

My face was a shade somewhere between cherry and fire engine. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I was tired from entertaining, and my pride was trampled under that silly blue chair.

Fast forward 8 months, I have a slow leak in one of my tires that needs fixed, so I find myself back at the dealership.  I drive through a construction site to and from dropping my son at school, so it was only a matter of time before I would have to show my face in the dealership again...with the same little blue chairs. Except this time, I have been eating healthy and exercising.  I have given up the drive thru for clean eating, Shakeology and 30 minute home work outs.  I still hesitate before I sit in that little blue chair, slightly scarred from my last experience. But sitting on the ground in a public place is just gross, I mean really gross, so I take a deep breath, swallow my pride and sit in that blue chair.  I find that not only do I FIT in that little blue chair, but I have some room to spare!!! Woohoo!

Can’t wait for my next flat tire…Just kidding! ;)
